Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice Care

Position Overview
As a Certified Nursing Assistant with Pallatus Healthcare, you will provide essential hands-on care and emotional support to hospice patients and their families. Working under the supervision of registered nurses, you'll help ensure patients receive compassionate, dignified care that enhances their comfort and quality of life during their end-of-life journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, and assistance with activities of daily living
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
- Assist with comfort measures including positioning, skin care, and mobility support
- Take and record vital signs as directed by nursing staff
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks related to patient care areas
- Help with meal preparation and feeding assistance when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided
- Respect patient privacy, dignity, and cultural preferences
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
Required Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of practice
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience preferred
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical care tasks
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for home visits
- Ability to work independently and follow care plans
- Comfortable working with patients facing end-of-life situations
- Basic computer skills for documentation
- Current CPR certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hospice, home health, or long-term care experience
- Experience with comfort care and end-of-life situations
- Bilingual capabilities (Spanish preferred)
- Additional healthcare certifications (medication aide, etc.)
- Experience working with electronic health records
- Strong organizational and time management skills
